MMA-IFMR
Post-Graduate Certificate in Business Management
(PGCBM) |
| “I have a Vision”.
“I have a dream”. So said Martin
Luther King. Similarly MMA had a Vision.
MMA had a dream. The dream of a flower that
blooms. The dream of starting a nationally
renowned `B’ School. On par with the
IIMs.
With that dream in mind, the Post-graduate
Certificate in Business Management was started
in collaboration with IFMR – a nationally
renowned management institute. With a high
profile Advisory Board headed by none other
than Mr N Kumar (Vice Chairman, The Sanmar
Group) the course was tailored to suit the
needs of working executives.
A two-year MBA programme was modified to
one year without compromising on content
and quality. The curriculum was designed
by IFMR. Classes are held on Saturdays to
suit the convenience of working executives.
The faculty are all drawn from IFMR.
The USP of the programme is mentoring by
senior corporate management professionals.
No other management programme in the country
has this concept. Each participant is mentored
by a senior executive who guides the participant
on various aspects of management. This has
proved really helpful to the students as
is evident from the feedback.
Though there were teething problems, these
were overcome. The course continues to be
very popular. Now we are in the fourth batch.
Waiting to start the next batch from Jan
’08.
The experience gained by MMA in designing
and running this programme will help MMA
in converting its dream of starting of a
‘B’ School in Chennai into reality
very soon?
Feedback from Students
“I joined the programme because I
did not have a formal qualification in management.
I wanted both – a qualification and
knowledge. I got both through this programme”
says Mr Abubucker Siddique of Kings Institute
(participant of IInd Batch).
“I always wanted to do a course in
management. But somehow I could never. Either
the course was full-time or the institute
too far away. Or the institute was not reputed.
At the MMA-IFMR PGCBM I got everything.
A well-structured course on week-ends. The
best was the mentoring by senior industry
professionals. I learnt a lot” says
Mr Vijay Krishnan of Lucas-TVS (participant
of IInd Batch). |
