Message From The President

Zig Ziglar once said “Success is not a destination, it’s a journey”
MMA has begun its new success journey in 2006 and it’s a privilege to share with you some of the achievements at the first half year milestone.
It’s a buoyant time for India. Optimism is everywhere in all the sectors of the economy be it Manufacturing, IT, Infrastructure, Agriculture, Pharma, FMCG etc. Economy is poised to grow at a rate close to 9% this year. Big Indian companies are making a mark in the global M&A area. Be it Tata Steel acquiring Anglo Dutch steel maker Corus or A V Birla’s Hindalco acquiring US based aluminium firm Novelis, Indian companies are playing to become global leaders through their multi billion dollar deals and successful integration with their existing businesses. The Government is also supporting the “India rising theory” by actively working towards reducing the trade barriers so that many more technologically advanced global companies can set up shop in India and in turn contribute wholesome development in the country. But there’s a caveat there. India cannot develop if villages of India don’t develop; If small towns don’t become future cities; If infrastructure doesn’t improve; if social security is not there for its citizens; If equitable wealth distribution doesn’t happen; If poverty doesn’t come down; In a nutshell if development doesn’t happen at the grassroots level
I’m pretty sure we all have heard the term “Think Global; Act Local”. MMA with an endeavour to spread its management philosophy to grass roots level, so that many more leaders emerge from small towns in India who work for the development of their areas, has started spreading out into the smaller towns with the opening of Salem Chapter. It had organized programmes in the areas of VAT, Finance for Non finance etc. which had an overwhelming response. This has quickly forced the management of MMA to start another local chapter at Tiruchirapalli and replicate the success there.
Some of the other recent successful programmes of MMA were “Success stories” series wherein successful entrepreneurs share their story and learnings with others. Some successful business people like Mr. Mohamed Meeran of GM Pens International Ltd., Mr. Lankalingam of Lanson Toyota, Mr. Susindran of Sabare International Ltd., and Mr. Soundararajan of Suguna Poultry etc. have shared their entrepreneurial journey with others. It was truly value adding and eye opening sessions for the younger members of the association. Apart from these MMA also organizes highly popular “Leaders Speak” series wherein successful professional leaders share their experiences with all.
MMA annual Convention “Global Leadership: India Can do it”, the flagship event of MMA is round the corner. The sole objective is to hear from doyens of industry and academia as stemming out of their experiences, as to how India can truly become a global leader on the economy front. I hope it would be a truly enriching experience for all of us. MMA also is planning to organize a “women managers’ convention” shortly to enable the members to take away key learnings from successful business women from various industries.
As a last word, I want to say, MMA as one of the leading LMAs in India, is truly trying to chart out the development roadmap for India Inc. It’s MMA’s endeavour to see that it delivers value to all its members and the society, directly or indirectly, through its innumerable hours of learning and sharing sessions and thus become a major contributor to the global leadership of India Inc!
Happy Learning!
