MMA Centre

In 1966, MMA moved into a more spacious premises at the Nungambakkam High Road. It had a library-cum-reading room, air conditioned hall and an auditorium. In 1993, a new premises at Thoraipakkam was purchased. This 5,200 sq.ft office, called MMA House, was inaugurated by Dr. Abdul Kalam on 17th Dec 2003.

To meet the aspirations of MMA members and also to set up a state-of-the-art infrastructure at a central location in Chennai, the MMA Managing Committee unanimously decided to sell the MMA House at Thoraipakkam. The Committee appointed SHILPA Architects, a leading architect firm in Chennai to design and construct a state-of-the-art office at the location acquired by MMA on Pathari Road, Off Anna Salai.
Due to MMA’s close association with everything Madras (as Chennai was then called), the SHILPA team worked to ensure that the building had elements of the traditional ‘Madras’ look: Madras checks, Madras terrace, exposed khandi bricks, coloured glass and other such essentials that give it the ‘Madras’ touch.

The new building, christened Management Center, was inaugurated by the then vice-president of India, Shri M Venkiah Naidu, on 18th Jan 2018.

Much thought has been given to every detail in building the new Management Center. There is abundant natural lighting and a certain ambient quality in the air. The flow of people going to the classrooms and lecture hall is seamless; the atrium is stylish yet functional. The library, although in close proximity, remains aloof as an oasis. It houses an exhaustive collection of Management books.

The years leading up to the building of the new office involved numerous challenges, all of which were tided over by the timely financial assistance and support of numerous businesses houses in Chennai. As a token of gratitude, MMA raised a ‘Wall of Gratitude’ to honour the donors.
